VCR was founded in April 2009. As we celebrate our third birthday we have archived a great deal.

We started with nothing other than a huge passion for cats. And an idea.

During these three years we have established ourselves in the local community and with  local vets, pet shops and local authorities. We have helped over 600 cats and kittens in need. And a few other animals as well. A litter of six four week old pups that would have been put to sleep had we not taken them in. Many rabbits, hamsters and hedgehogs.

We are desperately seeking larger premises as we cannot grow at our current location. 

We are run entirely by volunteers and depend on donations for our running costs. As with any animal welfare work, our overheads are extremely high. The biggest outgoing is our vet bill.  Should you wish to help by making a donation direct to the vet you can do so by calling Bridge Vaes at Brynmawr on 01495 313008 telling them you wish to make your donation to Vale Cat Rescue.  Many thanks in advance should you choose to do this. Just £1 or £2 will help, and many small donations add up.

Many of the cats we have helped have been Feral.  We operate a trap, neuter release program. We are unable to remove feral cats but can get them “nipped” so as to prevent increasing numbers.

We always need towels, blankets and other “cat stuff”. We are always happy to welcome new faces to join our little group, the only criteria is that you have a passion for animals. A good sense of humour  helps, but not essential.

CAGE HIRE
Should you need a cage for short term use, we have all sizes available for hire. We would need a deposit which is refundable upon return of cage. The smallest cages are suitable for a kitten, the largest we have would be suitable for a Great Dane. Please contact me on 01495 371022 during office hours. Denise

   On 23/02/10 our main sponser Pets at home presented us with a cheque to the value of £3460. this will help massivley with our running costs and Vet's bills.  A Huge thank you to all at the Brynmawr store for their ongoing assistance.
